Lighthouses

I got some new stamps from SweetnSassy this week, so I had to play with them. They're biblical verses , it's the trust in the Lord set. Check out Korin's line of stamps at SweetnSassy . I painted

some lighthouses to go with the Faith and Trust stamps. The printed paper is Stampin'Up and the ribbon . I inked around the edges of the image. The printed paper I scuffed up those edges. Off to play some more with the new stamps.

IRIS

Another Iris painting with a different card design. This painting I put on a pretty lavender paper and added the green photo corners. The card is white cardstock.

All supplies are Stampin Up, except for the handmade paper that I painted the Iris onto.

IRIS

The big bold Iris. I used night sky, white, and school bus yellow acrylic paints for the Iris. I painted it on a handmade paper, which is something new for me. Behind the painting I put purple mulberry paper. And the cardstock is Wild Wasabi from Stampin'Up. I also outlined the Iris with a black marker.

Frogger

I got a new toy today. The word window punch by stampin' up . So with my new toy I finished off the frogger card. My stampin'up demonstrator, Dawn had sent my a Christmas card using it and I just loved her card, so I had to buy the punch. So here's the card from the front, and inside and the pocket holds a tag that you pull out. I love painting the little frog and I added the dragonflies. I sewed the pocket to the card and the belt I sewed a topstitch on the edge. Then added the two eyelets to the belt . Thanks again Dawn for the candy, I'm having fun playing with it. There's a card in the making using the wild wasabi cardstock with some purple mulberry I have. Check back to see what I create .

Mojo Monday challenge

This card I did for the week 21 of Julee's mojo challenge.

Supplies:

Printed paper by Colorbok

yellow cardstock

Stamp-Happy Easter by Stampin' up

flower punch is EK Sucess
circle punch
Glossy accents by Inkssentials
Fibers from yarn shop. Fizz yarn
White and burnt umber acrylic paints
When I saw this printed paper, my first thought was it would make a great Easter card. So, I used Julee's card sketch for Week 21. The colorbok paper had all the great colors in the one 12x12 paper, so I used it for the white flower centers by tearing a circle and then put the glossy accents to give it dimension. The small flower I punched out of the paper also and the center of the flower. Why match colors they were all right there in the paper. So I also stamped the Happy Easter using the paper. And the fibers went great with all the colors in the paper.

Just one more addition, and it's done!

This card just needed that one more something, so I added the birds . And adhered the triangles to the card bottom. I punched squares and them cut them in half , an easy way to get uniform triangles without having to measure them. And now this card is done.

A beacon

I changed the lighthouse card design a bit. Double matted the painting, and added the cord to give it a nautical feel. Used red white and blue cardstock.

APPLE FOR THE TEACHER

So I took your idea and tried it Annie, and I like this one better. The yellow card makes the apple pop. And the lines was a cute idea for the square with the paper clip. Thanks Annie for your input.

Butterfly

I got a new stamp I wanted to play with. Used Julee's card sketch.

Stamp is Inkadinkado. I embossed it with gold. Then matted it to the gold textured paper. The butterfly I painted and then cut out. The flowers I painted on the card. And outlined in black to make them pop. The butterfly body is painted with Adirondack acrylic paint, pesto color. And scribbles 3d ruby paint for the dots on the butterfly.
I like that gold textured paper, but I'm down to scraps. I bought it at a garage sale in a large sheet.
The stamp is a quote from Mother Teresa: God doesn't look at how much we do, but with how much love we do it. I just had to buy it when I saw it.

MOJO MONDAY WEEK 20

I had fun using Julee's last card sketch for her contest, so I am doing this week's sketch ,too. I had painted some apples and thought the would make cute teacher's cards. So using Julee's card sketch it worked great. Triple matted the Liz's original painting. And used CM square punch in the yellow, orange, and red cardstock. Used a marker and added the A+ on one square and on the other square added a red paper clip. Out of red and orange I punched the two different size circles and used a star punch for the yellow star. Punch a hole in the circle and added red ribbon. Thanks Julee for another fun card sketch to create with.

First Communion

Printed paper is Paper Pizzaz Hot off the Press. Used a gold textured paper for the wine cup. The pattern is a Liz's original, traced the cup onto the gold paper and then cut it out.

The grapes and the host I painted on cardstock and then cut out and adhered to the card. The patterned paper I picked because it has the look of stained glass. Mimicking church windows. On to some Easter cards.

The living bread

I'm making cards for a Church event at my niece's church. So I wanted to make some cards for First Communion, Easter and thinking about a baptism one. I have the idea in my head, now it's just painting it. But I like the challenge.

Okay with this card I started with the ivory card stock and painted random grape clusters, using to purple shades of acrylic paint. Then I put the panels of gold textured paper and printed paper by hot off the press. The verse is from a song. printed that off on the computer. Painted the grape clusters and cut them out . To highlight the words I used the purple and a floating medium and brushed over them. And then to the inside of the card. Double matting the verse and painting the grape clusters. Grapes are fun to paint.

HEARTS FOR HEROES

I saw this article today. About a 16 year old girl who's making a big effort to get Valentine's Day cards to troops in Iraq, calling the campaign 'Hearts for Heroes.' So I made up some cards for her to send. Her goal this Valentine's Day is for 140,000 valentines. This isn't the first year she's done this, last year people donated 50,000 cards for the troops in Iraq. That is so WOW!!!
She says it's a big goal but she really wants to get it. Maybe you'll like to help. To help Amy Berger with 'Hearts for Heroes e-mail Fanafashn611@yahoo.com
In the article it says you should address it simply "Dear Hero" or "My Hero" and add whatever well wishes and thoughts you desire. Last year's deadline was Valentine's Day, But Berger said as long as people donate cards, they'll send them. Either handmade or store bought cards.

Sanibel Sisters

This card I made for a contest. Julee at Poeticartistry.blogspot.com has a mojo monday contest. This is for week 19.
Julee gave us the card layout and then I had some fun creating. I used a Liz's original painting as the focal point in the card. mounted it on the red cardstock cut in a rectangle and then added the starfish.
Mounted that on to the white card and added the black stripes to the top and bottom of the card.
The star fish are CTMH stamps. I Used glossy accents by Inkssentials to give them dimention.
The sisters stamp I added scribbles ruby glitter to the hearts. For a shimmer to the water I added some stickles waterfall glitter. Also on the sisters stamp I outlined the words using the Inkssentials glossy accents.
So off to submit it. WEEK19.

POPPY

The card sketch is inspired by Korin of Inkydoodle.blogspot.com

are also paper from DCWV and red ribbon. The setiment is stamped on the ribbon using stazon ink . The painted poppy is a Liz's lovely original painted with engine red and white. And thicket and grass green acrylic paints for the leaves. The red poppy I outlined with a black outliner marker and the leaves are shaded around the edge using the thicket green paint and a floating medium. The edges of the matt I inked with a black inkpad.
Thanks Korin for the card sketch inspiration. Check out her blog at Inkydoodle.blogspot.com

A Beacon

I've been wanting to paint a lighthouse for a while, so here it is. I'm very pleased with the results. I used a canvas paper, because I wanted to paint the background also. For the sky I used a sponge to paint it. Also used a sponge for the water and sand. The white caps I used a liner brush with white paint. The lighthouse I painted all white first, so it would have a good coverage over the background. With double loading the brush I was able to get the shading of the lighthouse. Then I side loaded the brush in the dark color and shadowed all the lighthouse edges. On to finishing up the other lighthouse cards.
