masculine card

This manly card uses rusty pickle paper, window screen, and some recycled washers. I punched a square window in the card. Metal sheet ,square brads and embossing letter tool, used on the metal .

Behind the square is window screen with some washers sewn on it using fishing line, because it's clear . On the edge of the card I cut window screen with the pointed edges and adhered it with 3 square brads. Cutting 3 pieces of metal from the sheet I embossed 'MR. FIX IT' on them.

This card sketch is from Technostamper's blog.

This will be a great card for my husband's birthday card.

Images at NIU

We took Darren back to NIU today. And we went to where they had a memorial set up for the 5 students killed there on Feb. 14. Here are some images we saw.

So senseless their deaths.

Life goes on and we unite. We hug our kids more often and tell them we

love them whenever they leave the house. Life goes on, and we try to make a difference in this world.
The images with the signs you'll have to click on those to read them better.

Knitted hat

I also like to knit. This is a hat I knitted for my great niece.

Thinking Spring

The stamps are CTMH a set from my niece. Such a cheery set. I used SU paper. Colored in the stamps using watercolor pencils.

sketch this cards: 42

I found another sketch for this week at Sketch this: cards.

Wanted to try the sketch, and I chose for a Mother's Day card.

I stamped the happy mother's day on white cardstock and then used the word window punch by SU , put eyelets on the sides and put a ribbon through and wrapped around twice and tied it off.
The silk flower has a rhinestone brad for the center. The patterned paper is SU.

Baby card

The stamp is a $1.00 stamp from Michael's. I used felt to stamp the baby on, and then put french knots for the dots. Blanket stitched it to the square piece of felt, and blanket stitched the edges of that square. Adhered it to the card front.

It's simple and sweet.

My boys

My boys Darren and Andrew.

I went to a prayer service Sunday night for those who died at NORTHERN ILLINOIS Univ.
And those who were injured physically, emotionally and their families.
The worship music was great. Sang many contemporary songs that I enjoy. It was good to get together with others and pray for all touched by the tragedy at NIU.
One song we sang was "I Can Only Imagine" by Bart Millard, it makes me cry every time I hear it.
And another cool one I never heard 'til tonight "From the Inside Out" by Joel Houston
Thank you for your prayers , they really do help.
NIU will be closed through this week and resume on Feb. 25, Monday. But they won't be using the Cole Hall for the remainder of this semester, that's where the shootings were. I was thankful to hear that , I think it very wise. So they'll be making arrangments this week where those classes will be held.

fishy gift bag

Painted a little fishy for a child's gift bag. Want to have a variety for the event in March.

I like these colors together. Maybe I'll have some time to paint

others . I was thinking some birds would be nice, for spring time.

Sweet 'n Sassy blog challenge

This card is a 6x6. I made it for a challenge at Korin's Sweet 'n Sassy blog, you can find the sketch on that blog.

I used DCWV textured cardstock, sanded the edges, to give it more of a distressed look. The stamps are a Sweet 'n Sassy set, trust in the Lord. The leaves are cut from the DCWV paper and pop dots to adhere them to the card. The pewter frame I don't remember what company. I stamped the Trust and embossed the edges of that matt with silver . And then inked over that with stazon ink to tone down the silver. It was a fun sketch to work with, and lots of layers.

When in distress go to the Lord

I'm using my blog to write , I'm not a good writer, so bear with. God is my strength in time of troubles. You may have read or heard on the news of shootings at Northern Illinois Univ. on valentine's day. My son goes to NIU. At the time of the shooting he was in his dorm, so he was safe. Thank God! Five are dead at the gunman's hand and more are wounded. And then the gunman shot himself. What do I do at the time of hearing this, I pray. Pray with me for the students at NIU and their families.

Thank you for your prayers!
Our God is an Awesome God!

Mojo monday week 24

I am soooooooo hooked on the monday sketches of Julee's at Poeticartistry blog. This sketch worked well with some scraps of designer paper I had and a painted apple . The apple I cut out and mounted with pop dots. The #1 teacher I used a script liner and wrote out.

gift bags with a bookmark

The weekend I spent making some of these bookmarks. I then added some to a gift bag.

The bookmarks are felt and I blanketstitched the edges.

I'm a vendor at a Ladies night out event at my niece's church/school, on March 1 , so these are some items I'll be selling.

The flowers and apple on the bags are Liz's original paintings, so a mix of painting and stitching
creations.

GOD IS GOOD

More bookmarks! I added some butterflies to the mix. I like the results of the sayings stamped with the stazon ink on the felt.
I know from the photo it's blurry ,but in person it isn't, and you can read it.

FAITH BOOKMARK

I played today with felt and embroidery floss and came up with this cute bookmark. For the faith stamp I used stazon ink and it stamps pretty good on felt, cool. The stamp is from my Sweet 'nSassy set.

The stitch I hand stitched around the flower and bookmark edge is the blanket stitch or also called the buttonhole stitch.

So I'm taking a break from painting and having fun with my other talents. This would be a cute flower to put on a card.

apple for a teacher

I like painting these apples. So I made some gift bags for that special teacher.

Added some raffia and a gift tag. What teacher wouldn't love getting a gift in

this cute bag. Even added the tissue wrap inside the bag.

Thinking SPRING

With cold weather here, I'm thinking spring.

This painting has it all flowers, butterflies, and a cute birdhouse.

For the roof and the side of the card I used a scruffy brush and pounced the paint on. It's a fun

technique to do.

THINK SPRING!

Mojo Monday Week 23 One more thing

I wanted to add one more thing to the card I submitted for the week 23 challenge, so here it is.

Added the sentiment You touch my life, also from the Stampin'Up stamp set.

I like this one better, it needed just that one more thing!

Mojo Monday Week 23 Challenge

I'm hooked on these challenges. Every Monday I check what sketch Julee has for us to create a card with. This week two winners get to pick a stamp set from Verve Visual stamps.

I chose the stamp from Stampin'Up set, this is my favorite stamp set. I chaulked in the image and wrapped the gold cord around this panel.
papers: black cardstock, gold embossed, purple mulberry, the image is stamped on a handmade paper.

Verve sketch challenge #1

I love a challenge, so here goes. This card I used my new stamp set from Sweet'nSassy . The flower ,you got it, a Liz's original. I gold embossed the scripture verse. And the edges of the flower are also gold embossed. To do that I just rubbed the versamark ink pad on the edges and then put the embossing powder on it.
