Guiding Light

Had so much fun doing the snowman note board, thought I'ld try a summer scene.
and I also collect light houses so this is perfect.
Did the sky with a sponge of sky blue and white paints, and sponged in the grass with shades of green. Painted the lighthouse outline with white and then painted on the red stripes. The house also I painted the outline with white and then painted the windows and highlights for the roof line . The trees are pounced in with the corner of a flat brush.
And the frame I put this in is one my Dad made for me. Special!!!

CHRISTMAS CARDS

It's been a long time since I had some time just to paint.
These cards are my result. All three cards I started with a white card. One has painted red stripes on the card, the other two I used a gold ribbon behind the painted image.
Two flowers are outlined with scribbles gold paint. Then the images are matted to a red DP. On the one card I dry brushed the background of the painting with green and red paints.

GIVE THANKS

This project is for the Belli Challenge at
Chrissyd723.blogspot.com
It was to make a Thanksgiving or Christmas decoration.
I used a candle and painted the pumpkin and leaves on it.
I used acrylic paints.
colors; orange, white, and forest moss
Outlined the leaves with white using a liner brush.
I've not painted on candles before so it was interesting to see
how the paints would work.
They don't rub off, but you can scratch them off, so I'll have to use different paints next time.

While walking through the villages of Spain, there were many lovely gardens full of color.
Hydrangeas were so pretty with the gorgeous flowers.
So I picked the Hydrangea to paint, and while I painted it thought back to the beauty of Spain.

CHURCHES IN SPAIN

The churches I recreated by painting a silhouette of them for these two cards.
I traced the churches and them painted them black.
Painted the sky and some mountains and trees.
The sky I used aqua paint and also for the mountains, black for the trees.

I really liked the photos so it was fun to recreate them into a card.
I like the results.

The Camino de Santiago

My second card, inspired by the pilgrimage is chestnuts.
Why chestnuts? My sis wanted some cards with chestnuts, and there were chestnut
trees on the journey across Spain.
I'm adding pictures of the beauty we walked through.
It was truely breath taking.

And on the one card I added Alizarin Crimson color to the leaves for a splash of color.
I use FolkArt acrylic paints. The DP is from Stampin'Up.

Spain inspired card #1

While walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain we walked through many vineyards. They were so gorgeous with the grapes hanging on the vines. When I get the pictures from the trip I'll post some for you to view. Spain is a beautiful country.

So for my first painting after my journey in Spain, I chose to paint these grape clusters.
The white grapes I cut out and mounted to the DP from Stampin' Up.
Some of the leaves I cut out and mounted with pop dots.
All the DP is Stampin' Up paper.

I used acrylic paints.

Hopefully soon that will happen. My body was on jetlag to a few days
and I'm still not in the groove.
Check back though and see all the inspiration I got from the beauty of Spain.

I tried to put the logo of the award on my blog, but I failed . Shirley, any tips to do that would be appreciated, thanks.

BABY ROBIN

The magazine I got has 9 bird designs, so had to try another.

This I used a stampin'up paper to mount the painting on.
I do enjoy painting, and have to get it out of my system, because I'm taking a trip
and will be gone for 5 weeks away from my passion.
But I'll replace it with enjoying nature and sketching some of the nature I see.

christmas cards

Started with the ivory card. punched out 1/4" squares and glued those to the edges of the card.
The image is a copy of an old postcard I purchased at an antique store. Making copies of the original I can make more cards with the postcard.
Tied a red ribbon to the circle clip and clipped it to the edge of the image.

Stampendous stamp using black ink. I then stamped the 'tiny babe, prince of peace' on another

paper and cut the image out , using pop dots adhered that over the stamped image.

Highlighted with blue paint to the cutout.

Used watercolor pencils and colored in the Christ child and manger.

Adding a gemstone to the star.

Sewed this to a red panel.
Put on a yellow panel and an ivory card.

with black paper , sanded the edges. Attached it with copper brads.
Put a skelton leaf behind it.
And also adding the strip of handmade paper behind.

Torn card edge and applied copper ink to it. Stamped the sentiment with copper ink.
